It looks at how to customise the basic layout and formatting, typography, logos and headers, images, etc.

** Please note that every theme has its own different options for customisation. Although the general principles and process are similar across themes, you need to learn the specific options your theme offers you. **

Notes: Using Stock Images
I recommend you use original images for your logo and core branding. However, on other areas of your site – particularly to liven up blog posts, you can use stock images.

Stock images are photography or design work available to buy on a non-exclusive basis (i.e. other people can use the same images on their sites too).

Personally, I use istockphoto and vivozoom for stock images for blog posts. Prices are around $1-$2 per image.

I also use free images from Flickr – but you must use the Advanced Search option to find images with a Creative Commons licence where the owners are willing to allow you to use the image commercially. You will need to provide attribution to the owner too – usually via a link in the blog post.
